After the Blue Jays designated 41-year-old catcher Henry Blanco, Blanco had the choice of playing in triple-A or being released. He chose to be released, become a free agent, and was picked up by the Mariners.
In his first game for the Mariners yesterday, he made a great dive to tag a runner out at the plate and also hit a grand slam. Not a bad debut.
While the Jays shouldn’t miss Blanco (and probably should have never signed him by the looks of things), I’m happy to see him get a shot with an MLB club.
You gotta love good ol’ Hank White.
