As reported by Bob Elliot of the Toronto Sun, the Blue Jays have an interest in adding infielder Munenori Kawasaki to its organization.
Kawasaki, 31, spent last season with the Mariners – his first year in the major leagues after having several star years in Japan. He hit .192 in 104 at-bats last season while providing depth at shortstop and 2B.
If the Jays do indeed go after Kawasaki, look for him to be signed to a minor league deal and start the year in triple-A while providing infield depth. It seems the Jays 25-man roster is pretty much set, so Kawasaki would be a depth move.
